One With Flow
February 14, 2024
Los Altos, CA
A quiet day of retreat to cultivate the creative flow of wisdom.
Yes, it's Valentine's Day (Celebrating Love!!), but the main inspiration for this retreat is found on the Hindu lunar calendar. The 5th day of the month of Magha is the day to celebrate Sarasvati, goddess of wisdom and the arts. The name Sarasvati can be translated as “one with flow.”
To cultivate the presence of “Sarasvati” in our lives means to become one with the flow of wisdom and creativity.
About This Retreat Day
Hosted by Dr. Maja Apolonia Rodé
I feel inspired to observe this as a day of retreat for myself, and I am inviting others to join me for any part or all of it.
What to Bring
Yellow — The traditional celebration of Sarasvati includes all things yellow and gold. So, consider bringing something yellow or gold -- maybe wear something yellow, include yellow food in the potluck item, bring a yellow flower for the altar, etc.
Materials To Be Blessed — Sarasvati celebration day is also a time for blessing journals and other creative materials. So, bring a journal, instrument, smartphone, your favorite pen, and/or art materials for a co-created meditational blessing.
Music and Art — I will have a selection of my magical Rasa Harps ready for us all to play, and to serve as musical inspiration throughout the day. If you have an instrument you would like to play, bring it and we will find a time for you to play. In the afternoon, we will learn about and make Yantras and Mandalas; bring your own supplies if you like.
Note: Some of my Rasa Harps will be available to purchase, along with my mandalas (on the walls and unframed).
Food — Bring a bag lunch if you will be here for the morning meditation. Bring a potluck item for dinner.
Retreat Schedule
You are welcome to join any or all sections of the retreat.
Please arrive early or on time for whichever segment/s you would like to join.
11am: Meditation and Quiet Conversation
Silent sitting, followed by warm beverages and reflective conversation inspired by the amazing view.
Noon: Lunchtime
Bring a bag lunch if you want to join us and eat here around noon.
1-4pm: Oracle and Journaling
We will roll Divine Dice for oracular inquiry purposes — which is magical and profound if you haven't experienced it yet, especially when we do it in a small group! This will include time for wisdom-journaling, sharing, and reflection.
This afternoon time will be great for inquiring about the movement of your dharma/creative unfolding and/or for accessing and expressing inner wisdom through writing.
4:30-5:45: Drawing Yantras
We will be learning to draw the Sarasvati Yantra, an ancient visual technology for opening channels of creativity, wisdom, and learning. You will create your own yantra to take home and use for blessing and meditation. (Please bring a few dollars to cover cost of materials and/or bring your own.)
6pm: Potluck
Please arrive around 5:45pm to join the potluck. If you would like, bring your offering in a yellow dish or bring food with yellow ingredients.
Bring the food you feel inspired to bring and trust the flow of our collective inspiration to sort out the details.
7pm - 8:30pm: Divine Dialogue
This evening’s Divine Dialogue will have an artistic element added. We will start with a viewing of one of my short visual/musical meditation videos, include visual prompts, and invite optional creative expressions during the dialogue.
You are welcome to any or all of the above.
Contact Me if you are interested to join — and let me know what segments you plan to attend.
Donations are welcome but not required.
